BP Pulse has joined ChargeHub's Passport Hub, adding more than 850 charging points at over 95 locations to the North American roaming network.
The integration lets EV drivers locate, access and pay for charging at BP Pulse sites through the ChargeHub app. The chargers will also become available to users of other e-mobility service providers and automakers connected to Passport Hub.
How the roaming arrangement works
Passport Hub is ChargeHub's roaming platform, linking charging networks with mobility service providers and vehicle manufacturers. It is designed to let drivers use their existing apps and services across multiple networks instead of registering separately with each charge point operator.
For BP Pulse, the agreement extends the reach of its North American infrastructure through a wider range of third-party platforms. ChargeHub, meanwhile, adds another charging network to its roaming ecosystem.
The announcement did not specify how many of the 850-plus points are rapid or ultra-rapid chargers, or whether every point will be available through every Passport Hub partner.
Company comments
Sujay Sharma, BP Pulse's VP of EV charging in the US, said the partnership expands access to the BP Pulse network through trusted roaming partners. He said charging networks working better together benefits the entire EV ecosystem and is an important step toward accelerating adoption.
Simon Ouellette, CEO of ChargeHub, said a network like BP Pulse choosing Passport Hub signals that the hub model has become the way roaming is done in North America. Because it is a hub, he said, the impact goes beyond the ChargeHub app to eMSPs and automakers that can offer access to BP Pulse chargers through connections they already have.
